My Note to Myself

June 6, 2012 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I have to write myself notes in order to remember anything. Sad, but true.

note

Lately, my notes have taken on a life of their own. They are now on 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper.

That’s some note.

Thankfully, I have been able to see them and remember to do what’s on them!

My View

May 30, 2012 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I shared this on Facebook the other day, so I thought I’d share it here as well.

The view from my computer:

pool ice tea

Isn’t that a lovely view? Kids in the pool and a nice glass of ice tea with a peppermint leave from my herb garden.

Have you ever tried peppermint in your ice tea? It’s so good!

What’s  your favorite summertime drink?

Crocheted Prayer Shawl

February 23, 2012 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

A prayer shawl can be very comforting to someone who is sick or having a hard time in life. There are prayer shawl ministries ( linked to a couple below) and Prayer Shawl Books available to help you get started in a prayer shawl ministry of your own.

Here is a prayer shawl I made.

Crocheted Prayer Shawl

The finished measurement of this shawl (excluding the fringe) is  14 ” by 53″.  Using a larger hook size and a soft yarn, makes this shawl warm, soft and comforting.

Crocheted Prayer Shawl

And here’s how I made it!

Crocheted Prayer Shawl

Linda’s Crocheted Prayer Shawl Directions:

Materials: Size I crochet hook ( or other size hook to get a somewhat loose and soft stitch.), I used  Caron Simply Soft Yarn  for this shawl. It’s so soft! The color I used on this one is Persimmon 9754. I bought 2 – 6 ounce skeins and I have over half of one left, probably close to 3/4. That includes making the fringe.

Chain 59. DC is 4th chain from hook. DC across. (57 stitches, including the 1st 3 chain stitches) Chain 3, turn.

Dc in 2nd stitch, ch 3 counts as first DC. Chain 1, skip 1 DC, DC in next stitch. Repeat across. DC in last stitch. Ch. 3, turn.

Repeat rows until shawl reaches desired length. For the last row, DC in each stitch across. Fasten off.

The shawl in the picture has 82 rows. You can adjust the length for the person receiving it.

I added fringe to this one. Fringe is a personal choice, add if you like, leave it off if the person receiving it doesn’t like fringe.

You can write your own prayer to include with the prayer shawl or find prayers here:

God, Can I Ask You a Question?

February 16, 2012 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I saw this on Facebook today and really liked it. So I decided to share it here. Enjoy!

Me: God, can I ask You a question?

God: Sure

Me: Promise You won’t get mad
… … … … …
God: I promise

Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me today?

God: What do u mean?

Me: Well, I woke up late

God: Yes

Me: My car took forever to start

God: Okay

Me: at lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait

God: Huummm

Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call

God: All right

Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home ~I just want to soak my feet in my new foot massager & relax. BUT it wouldn’t work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did You do that?

God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one
of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that

Me (humbled): OH

GOD: I didn’t let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.

Me: (ashamed)

God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn’t want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn’t afford to miss work.

Me (embarrassed):Okay

God: Your phone went dead bcuz the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn’t even let you talk to them so you would be covered.

Me (softly): I see God

God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn’t think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: I’m Sorry God

God: Don’t be sorry, just learn to Trust Me…. in All things , the Good & the bad.

Me: I will trust You.

God: And don’t doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan.

Me: I won’t God. And let me just tell you God, Thank You for Everything today.

God: You’re welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I Love looking after My Children…

My New Motto

January 30, 2012 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Daffodil

I am only one, but I AM someone.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.

I saw that on Facebook and just had to make it my new motto.  I need to re-read this numerous times a day.

I should just memorize it.  That’s how often I need the reminder!

Handling Kid’s Gloves

January 19, 2012 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I have 6 kids ranging in age from 25 down to 11. Imagine if you will, the number of gloves and mittens we’ve gone through over the years.

The number of gloves and mittens used and lost just boggles my mind. They aren’t cheap, either!

It finally snowed here last week for the first time this winter. My poor kids had to play outside in mismatched gloves. I felt sorry enough for them, that we bought new ones. lol We tried to buy them at a store in town. Well, you know how that goes. Try to buy the clothing item you need in season and the stores just laugh at you. Who buys gloves in January? Isn’t everyone buying bathing suits?!

So I resorted to shopping online. I found some gloves on clearance at a big box store online (not the one that starts with a W, but the one that starts with a K). The boys gloves I bought were only 3 dollars and change each, and they are a name brand, too.

Kid Gloves

Now here’s the brilliant part! For my 4 kids, I bought 8 pairs, in 2 different sizes of the same design!

All the gloves can go in one basket and they can just grab two out. Lose a glove? Well, there are more just like it!

So, what do you think my chances are of having any of these gloves still here next winter?!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
