FOUND:Crazy Country Woman

October 22, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

In case anyone was looking for her, I found her….in my yard.

The neighbor’s dog, who is a known chicken thief, is running around loose today. Chasing our chickens. It was spotted in our front yard again so I threw off my slippers, donned D’s shoes that he keeps by the back door. And off I went. I was walking around the yard, in the rain, wearing D’s shoes that are like clown shoes on me, with a loaded gun, (Ok, it was a bb gun) in the rain. Oh, the dog was nowhere to be found.

So if anyone was indeed looking for Crazy Country Woman, You now know where she is.

Hot Chocolate soothes everything, even wet, crazy, dog chasing country woman.

sleep?

October 19, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

what’s that??????
I’m so incredibily sleep deprived, it’s not even funny….
I need a minium of 8 hours per night. I’ve been getting approximately 7 hours a night this week, and last night was just barely 6. I just can’t function on that little sleep! How’s tonight look, sleep wise?? Not very promising! We have 2 (YEP! 2 things scheduled for tomorrow, both of which are all day things. sigh. I still don’t know which one we’re going to go to. For one, we have to leave the house at 7:45. The other is about an hour later. sigh. what to do, what to do. yawn………..
ok, enough complaining. I have to go work on supper. We’re having hamburgers over the fire. I already made the burger earlier in the week, so I just have to come up with some sides.
And, hey, maybe I’ll fall asleep by the fire.
A girl can dream, can’t she??

shocked

October 15, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

disclaimer
I am in no way implying that my kids are perfect. I know they’re not, I take care of them, remember? This is not about having perfect children. This is about the adults behavior.

When we were shopping today, the woman, who I believe to be the Grandmother, came around the corner with the kid already crying. And we heard her say, “What do you think happened to your chalkboard? (kid cries louder) We threw it away. Where do you think your missing toys went? And if you don’t stop crying I’m going to take away the rest of your toys! (kid cries louder)”
Well NO wonder the poor kid is crying loudly! The woman wasn’t even trying to keep quiet. She was saying all this loudly, for the whole store to hear. My kids are all looking at me shocked! They always look when a child is screaming in the store. Hard not to look, but this was different. They were shocked that the adult was saying these things to the child, who was 4 or 5. Then she said, “Do you want to go to so and so’s house while I go to the chiro tomorrow?” crying kid says yes “Well, your not going to go because you won’t behave” Kid cries louder!
This went on while we all went to the check out while we continued to walk near each other. They went through the checkout ahead of us. And she kept talking this way to him. Then, we went to the van, and they happened to be parked right next to us. So I got my stuff loaded up. And the woman climbed behind the steering wheel saying “Your the whiniest kid I’ve ever seen” then she shut the door.

I really felt sorry for the little kid. No wonder he can’t behave if he’s subjected to this constant barrage of complaints and threats and criticism! My kids didn’t know what to do. They said it was mean they way she was talking to him. Now, I do sometimes raise my voice (sometimes just to be heard about they kid noise, and the piano that is usually playing ALL THE TIME! like now! It sure does make it hard to think!!), but I don’t talk “mean” like that.

Ok, enough of that! I have to go do something about supper!

Baby Shower Gift

October 13, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Our church had a baby shower/dinner for our youth paster and his wife last Sunday. It was a nice dinner, and they got a lot of nice gifts.

I deviated from my usual shower gift of diapers, and made them an afghan. Here it is.

Here’s a closer pic of one of the squares:

See how the flowers stand up?

I got the directions for the Puffy Flower Granny Square from Susan’s blog. She posted the directions for joining the squares on her blog, and they came from The Crochet Dude.

Well, do you like it?

They really listen!

October 9, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I usually buy butter instead of margarine, for health reasons mostly, but it does taste better. I bought some margarine last night, for the second week in a row, trying to cut expenses. Calen read the box this morning and announced to me “Just so you know, I’m NOT eating margarine anymore. It has transfat in it, and I DON’T eat transfat.” Ab pipes up “I don’t wanna get fat!” Someone else, Z?, asked what transfat was. Calen said “It clogs your arteries, then your heart explodes!”

So your kids really do listen when you are talking about nutrition.

And this proves that they will also turn around and use it against you!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
