Works for Me Wednesday – Easy Chicken Parmesan

November 29, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

We had to leave an hour earlier for church tonight because of Christmas play pratice. I was running out of time, and needed to make something for dinner in a hurry. So I took the large package of chicken breasts (that I had to use or freeze TODAY because I bought them on clearance) placed them in a 13×9 baking dish. I covered them in parmesan cheese, then carefully poured tomato sauce over the top (I used a 29 oz can), being careful to leave the cheese on the chicken. Then I seasoned the top with salt and pepper, garlic powder, oregano and basil. Then sprinkled on lots more parmesan cheese. I baked it until the chicken was done. Baking time will vary, depending on how thick the chicken breasts are. While they were baking, I made some rice and broccoli.
This turned out sooooo good! It tasted like I had cooked the sauce for a long time before putting over the chicken. But all I did was dump it in the pan! Everyone loved it! The kids put the sauce on the rice and broccoli, too. Even DH loved it and he’s not a fan of white meat, he prefers the dark meat. The chicken came out so juicy and tender. I will definitely be making this again.

I didn’t get a picture, because of the whole leaving an hour earlier for church thing, but this quick, dump recipe Worked For Me

Works for Me Wednesday – Dishtowels

November 14, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Every time I turn around, thanks to the kids, my dishtowel is missing! Well, that’s how it used to be. Now that I made some towels that hang on the stove handle, they don’t disappear, well, quite as fast anyway. I took a dishtowel, cut it in half, and crochet across the top. I used a needle to poke the hole in the towel for the crochet hook to go through. I sewed a button on, and the button slips in between the stitches to hang up. Now my towels don’t disappear every 2 seconds!

Works For Me Wednesday Sheets

October 31, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I put the flannel sheets back on my bed this week. I just love them, they are so warm! I bought these sheets when we had our king size bed. When we downsized to a queen, I didn’t want to have to buy new ones. So I made new corners on the fitted sheet, that took some trial and error to get the corners to fit right. I didn’t cut down the top sheet, but kept it as a king size.

Here’s the Works For Me Wednesday part. I just love the king sized sheet on my queen sized bed! I can roll over, and still have my back covered! And I don’t have to worry about hubby hogging all the covers, and waking up cold. Because I also still use the king sized comforter, there’s plenty of covers to share. 🙂
The only slight problem, if you can call it that, is the king size sheet hangs out from under the comforter. So when I make the bed, I just tuck it in along the sides. So it’s not really a problem.

Using a king size sheet on my queen size bed Works for Me!

The picture above is my bed. I made the curtains and valance out of twin sized sheets, bought when they went on clearance, that match the comforter. Oh, I embroidered and made the pillow in the center, and made the afghan to match. 🙂

Works For Me Wednesday – Spice Drawer

October 24, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I’ve written about my spice drawer before. Now I’m back to say it Works For Me.
The spices in the drawer next to the stove is more convienent than in the upper cabinet, not to mention, it makes everything easier to find! I moved all the cooking utensils to a mason jar on the counter, but I will probably move some back, as there are too many on the counter.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
