Unstoppable DVD Review & Giveaway

February 2, 2014 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I recently received the DVD Unstoppable with Kirk Cameron to review. Unstoppable was released in theaters for two weeknights in October 2013. Over the course of those two nights, UNSTOPPABLE: A Live Event with Kirk Cameron sold 260,000 tickets and reached a theatrical gross of over $3.2 million dollars. A major accomplishment for an independent, faith based movie.

Kirk Cameron is best known for his role as Mike Seaver on the Tv show Growing Pains in the 1980’s. More recently he enjoyed much success with the No. 1 grossing inspirational film of 2008, Fireproof, and his recent documentary, Monumental. Kirk and his wife, Chelsea, were on-screen sweethearts during their Growing Pains years, and are now the parents of six children. They are the founders of Camp Firefly, where terminally and seriously ill children and their families are provided an all-expense paid retreat.

ABOUT UNSTOPPABLE

Inspired by the death of Cameron’s close friend who succumbed to cancer at the age of 15, Kirk Cameron takes viewers on an inspiring and hope-filled visual journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raising question in faith: “Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?”

Going back to the beginning—literally—Kirk investigates the origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives … and our eternities. UNSTOPPABLE will prompt audiences to consider the role that pain and suffering has in our lives, as they affirm their personal views on faith, and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope.

Unstoppable DVD Review

When bad things happen to good people, we question why. When kids are diagnosed with cancer, or some other equally horrible disease, we question why. Why does God allow these things to happen? Why did God allow my kid to get cancer?

In Unstoppable, Kirk Cameron helps to answer those questions, and more. Kirk takes us back to the beginning, creation, with live action re-enactments of scenes from the Garden of Eden. Explaining how evil came into God’s perfect world, and the effects of evil on His creation. The scenes are very well done. The garden scenes are rated G, so no worries there. When Cain kills Abel, he is not seen actually hitting him, but he is seen making the hitting strokes with a rock in his hand, you can not see Abel, and blood does get on Cain. I think Unstoppable is suitable for the whole family. If you do have a young one that might be bothered by that scene, just know that it is coming so you can distract them.

Unstoppable isn’t really a movie, it’s more of a documentary style. More than half, I think closer to 3/4’s, is Kirk Cameron talking. Telling the story of a boy who died of cancer, talking about creation, helping us to understand where God is during suffering and tragedy, and more.

If you have ever wondered why God allows suffering and tragedies to occur, you should watch Unstoppable. This movie will help you to better understand the role good and evil plays in our lives and the world.

I haven’t seen it yet – but definitely want to. I’ve seen the trailer of the movie and it looks like its going to be a very good movie. It asks the question of why God doesn’t do anything about all the suffering people go through when he has the power to stop it. It always deals with the issue of faith. I think it will be a “Keeper”.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
