His Final Answer Book Review

December 15, 2024 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

His Final Answer is the new book from Christopher D. White and Jennifer Curran. While His Final Answer is a novel, it’s basis comes from true stories. The stories of those that have experienced deep loss, and suffered immense grief. The story shows how those that have suffered the pain of immense grief have been changed, sometimes in ways they haven’t even realized. And how one can reconcile the past, so they can move forward.

About the Authors

Christopher D. White, a Midwest native from the Chicagoland area, is a filmmaker, storyteller, and lifelong Chicago sports fan—even owning a genuine 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series ring. A graduate of Indiana University and the American Film Institute, Christopher’s career spans original films like Missing Brendan and the Netflix series Valhalla Murders. His first novel, His Final Answer, showcases his passion for storytelling and is set to be adapted into a film shot in Iceland and Boston.

Jennifer Curran, raised in the small town of Stamford, Vermont, excelled in sports and earned an English scholarship to Boston University. Discovered by Elite Modeling Agency at nineteen, she enjoyed a successful international modeling career before pursuing acting and writing. A certified member of Amherst Writers & Artists, Jennifer is an accomplished poet and storyteller. His Final Answer marks her debut novel.

His Final Answer Book Review

In His Final Answer, we follow Daniel, a high powered business owner as he travels to his native Iceland for a big contract. Daniel has pushed his grief down so deep, that he doesn’t acknowledge it anymore. But it’s there, affecting every aspect of his life. While in Iceland, Daniel had a heart attack. Daniel’s brother, Jon, still lives there on the family ranch, and was called to the hospital. When she was also called to the hospital, Daniel was not happy to see his estranged wife.

The two brothers haven’t seen or spoken to each other in years. Because Daniel, can’t travel, his only option is to recover on the ranch. So now Daniel is in the house with the 2 people he had pushed so far away they didn’t think they would ever reconcile.

Through the course of his recovery, move back to the United States, and return to his business, we see how Daniel comes to terms with the lose of his son. Everyone’s grief is different, and everyone comes to terms with their grief on a different timeline. His Final Answer does a great job of showing this. And showing how we all can accept what has happened in our lives, and move forward with a good, and productive life. While never forgetting our loved ones.

His Final Answer

I loved His Final Answer. It is an easy read, with an important lesson for ourselves, enables us to come to a deeper understanding for someone going through the stages of grief. I especially enjoyed hearing about Iceland. The author does an amazing job of conveying how beautiful this country is. And the colorful, artwork pictures reinforce the descriptions.

CSB Grace Bible For Kids

December 5, 2024 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

The CSB Grace Bible for Kids was created in partnership with Holman Bibles, 2K/DENMARK and Cambridge University. This kids Bible is designed to enhance readability for kids with all levels and varieties of dyslexia and other reading challenges.

CSB Grace Bible For Kids

The CSB Grace Bible for Kids features innovative and academically tested typeface, layout, and design principles. These principles include distinct letter forms and added space between letters, words, lines, and paragraphs. Included with the Bible are 10 colored overlays, created by Cambridge University’s Research Department, that enhance visual processing. Kids with dyslexia, and other reading challenges, can choose the color that works best for them.

Grace Bible Review

I started a tradition with our oldest, that when they learned how to read, we got them a Bible with their name on it. We continued that with all 6 of our children. Now we have 3 grandchildren, with the oldest now in Kindergarten. And I get to start the tradition over! All that to say, I have been looking at Bibles for kids again.

Here’s a tip I learned. A lot of Christian book stores will imprint a name on the front of a Bible you purchased from them for free. I recently found out that the store closest to me will imprint a name on a Bible you bring in for a fee. Well worth it to be able to bring in your choice of Bible to have a name imprinted on it.

I have fallen in love with the CSB Grace Bible for Kids! The large print, easy to read layout, the colored overlays, study helps geared towards kids. All help to make reading this Bible easier and enjoyable for kids. And if it’s enjoyable, they will read it more!

There are more study helps and special features than I can include photos of. These are two of my favorite. A picture timeline of Jesus’ life. And the family tree of Abraham. Both a great help for kids in understanding the Bible.

I’m now looking forward to my granddaughter progressing with her reading so I can give it to her! I highly recommend the CSB Grace Bible For Kids. Perfect for those who struggle with reading, and it’s also a great Bible for all kids!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Movie Review

November 6, 2024 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Nobody is ready for the mayhem and surprises that ensue when six of the worst youngsters disrupt the town’s yearly Christmas performance. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is the greatest story ever told – by the worst kids in the history of the world.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Synopsis:

The Herdman kids are absolutely the worst. They lie, they steal, they bully…and they’ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. Directed by Dallas Jenkins (“The Chosen”) and based on the international bestseller by Barbara Robinson, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever follows six siblings who sneak into church searching for snacks and walk away with the lead roles in the town pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time; she and her daughter Beth (Molly Belle Wright) and husband Bob (Pete Holmes) are less than amused. But the play’s mischievous stars might unwittingly teach a community the true meaning of Christmas. Featuring Lauren Graham. Screenplay by Ryan Swanson and Platte F. Clark & Darin McDaniel.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Movie Review

I loved this movie!! The film is based on a book. I haven’t read the book. Yet. So my opinion isn’t based on the book. But they 100% got all the characters right! The The judgy church women that wanted everything to be like it had always been. The quiet mom that usually stays in the background. Until called forward by circumstances, then shines. The whole group of kids that are afraid of the town bullies. And the town bullies that don’t really want to be bad. They just haven’t been taught any different.

There are so many funny parts in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. A couple of parts that are kind of sad. That make you realize why the bullies are the way they are. Many more heart warming moments. And the pageant itself on Christmas Eve. This. When you look at the Nativity through the eyes of someone discovering the true meaning of Christmas for the first time. It made me cry! Really!

This is my new favorite Christmas movie!! I highly recommend you take your whole family to see this movie. I predict that The Best Christmas Pageant Ever becomes the new Christmas classic movie!

The Carpenter Movie Review

November 4, 2024 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

The Carpenter is unlike any movie set in Biblical times that I have ever seen. Seen through the life of a fighter, this is a modern depiction of an ancient story.

The Carpenter

Synopsis: An adopted viking orphan becomes a carpenter’s apprentice to Jesus. The orphan, Oren, fights as a side hustle. His experience training as a carpenter with Jesus as his mentor changes his lifestyle.

I loved The Carpenter. It’s a very unique telling of a story from that time period. I thought it was very well done. The villages, the costumes. The fight scenes were made to look real. Although, while there is some blood shown on faces and hands, it is not gory. There is much less blood shown in this movie than in others with fight scenes. The editing of some of the action scenes was unusual. Certain parts of the scenes were shown in slow motion, in the middle of the scene. I enjoyed it, though.

Watch the Trailer!

The Carpenter Movie Review

Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from the movie. I can’t list all my favorites, there are too many!

“The goodness comes from the man who provides it to those in need. We are just serving it for him” – Aria

“The Father does not like to see his children suffer. But if he healed everyone when they wanted, it would deny them the chance to learn to avoid the pain and consequences.” – Yeshua

The Carpenter Movie Review

The scenes of Oren in the carpentry shop were full of lessons for all of us from Yeshua. These lessons change Oren’s life. He meets and falls in love, and gets married. Yeshua leaves town, and Oren finishes a big project they were working on. A couple of men come to pick up the project, a big table. The table is in the next scene of the last supper. Then Jesus is betrayed, and the screen goes black while we hear nails being hit with a hammer. The crucifixion scene is not shown. Jesus is resurrected, but a scene depicting that is not shown.

The Carpenter Movie Review

The movie ends with a very touching scene. Considering all the fight scenes, I wasn’t expecting the love between Yeshua and Oren to be the last scene. I loved the ending. It was just perfect.

The Carpenter is an action/drama/faith based movie. There are intense fight scenes, and slow moving dialogue scenes. This movie is rated PG-13. I recommend you stick to that age guideline. If you have a young teen that is sensitive to fighting, I suggest you watch The Carpenter first to see if it is appropriate for your teen.
