Iesodo (pronounced Yay-Sa-Doe), is a wise dove whose name means “The Way of Jesus”. He and his lovable feathered friends live in the Holy Land in a beautiful Cypress Tree on the shores of a vast Lake (the Sea of Galilee to us). It’s a pretty cool tree, too. With hollowed out branches for the birds to live and play in. The birds are an unlikely group of friends, and though they have their differences, they have one thing in common: since they met Iesodo, their lives have never been the same!
The DVD that I reviewed is number two out of 3 available now, with more coming soon. Each DVD contains two episodes, plus extra features. Iesodo: Love episodes are titled Birds of a Feather Fish Together, and Love Your Enemies.
Birds of a Feather Fish Together tells the story of two pretty little Finch birds that are getting married. All their plans are going awry when they find out they don’t have enough nectar for the wedding. Iesodo steps in, calms everyone down, and makes sure that there is plenty of nectar. You’ll recognize the story of Jesus turning water into wine in this episode. The little bride and groom finch sing a song to each other during the wedding ceremony, and it’s very sweet. Love Your Enemies tells the story of Zack, the tax collector. He doesn’t have any friends, never has. Most likely due to his behavior as tax collector. But thanks to Iesodo stepping up to show him a better way, Zack finally has friends. This is a great story of treating everyone with kindness, even those that are mean to us.
I really liked the graphics on this DVD. My husband even commented on how good they were. I also really liked the bonus features on the DVD. You can find out more information about the Biblical stories portrayed on the DVD, read the Bible verses, learn the songs, and watch music videos.
The plastic DVD case slips inside an outer cardboard case. The front of the cardboard case opens. Inside is a Bible verse, and spaces to write to and from names if you are giving it as a gift. I think that’s a nice touch. I love to give DVDs as presents to my kids , and others as well. That space gives it a more personal touch.
Iesodo is a Dove Award winner. It also has received the Homeschool.com 2014 Seal of Approval. Iesodo is suitable for the entire family.
Not all of the scenes in the trailer are in the Iesodo: Love DVD. You can hear a little of the wedding song, Together Forever in the clip, though.
Please visit the Iesodo website for more information. They have a lot to offer – a music video, a behind the scenes video, family discussion guides, printable activity sheets, and more.
