Miracle in East Texas

October 25, 2023 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Miracle in East Texas is an incredible story of American entrepreneurship. Inspired by a true story, it tells the story of the biggest oil strike in United States history. I was recently able to watch a screener of this western, romantic comedy. And I loved it! It’s suitable for all ages. Watch the trailer below.

Sorbo Studios produces films that uplift and entertain. Miracle in East Texas stars Kevin Sorbo (also director), John Ratzenberger, Lou Gossett Jr., Tyler Mane. Also starring and produced by CC mom Sam Sorbo. With CC homeschool graduate Braeden Sorbo.

Miracle in East Texas Review

Synopsis:

Miracle in East Texas is an entertaining tale of two aging con men at the dawn of the Great Depression and the biggest oil strike in the history of the world.

Irving Tanner, Jr. (Lou Gossett, Jr.) recounts the 1930 legend. Times are hard when the unluckiest wildcatter in the world, Dad Everett (John Ratzenberger), teams up with Doc Boyd (Kevin Sorbo), a charming snake oil salesman. Together they convince several new widows (Sam Sorbo, Paula Boudreau, and others) to invest in their worthless oil wells.

Then, the unthinkable happens! Now our two Casanovas faced with a challenge: declare another dry hole for a clean escape, or bring the well in like genuine oil men and likely spend the rest of their lives in jail?

Meanwhile, some of their investors are angry and fixing to do something about it. And one of them is truly a “mountain” of a man (Tyler Mane).

What happens next? Doc preaches, the Good Lord teaches, and a judge reaches a surprising conclusion. The mostly true story will make you laugh, shed a tear, and give you pride in the God-blessed American way.

Watch the trailer!

This is a great movie for the whole family! Miracle in East Texas is a story about hope and redemption. And we see it all play out. Including the most surprising court session I’ve seen. Ever hear of a judge declaring a recess for 1 or 2 weeks so he could think while he was fishing? lol

While the men started out as con men, there is a good message on forgiveness and its blessings. One of the widows testified in court asking the judge to set them free.

The movie has a happy ending. The widows are set for life, the church members become millionaires, and Dad gets married!

“The real miracle is that every lie that I told turned out to be the truth. Not by my design but that of a Higher Power” – Doc Boyd in his speech at the wedding of Dad.

A great ending!

My New Hobby! Diamond Art!

October 20, 2023 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

*This My New Hobby! Diamond Art! post contains affiliate links

I had been curious about diamond art painting ever since the first time I saw them. They were pricey in the store, and since I didn’t need another hobby, I passed them by. Then I saw these small kits at Walmart. I kept my eye on them, and then I saw them in the clearance aisle! $1. per kit. Score! lol

I fell in love with diamond art right away. lol I’ve found it to be not only fun, but relaxing, too. Even if I do get comments from everyone else that they wouldn’t have the patience for it. lol I had bought 4 kits, and gave one to my daughter. She loved it, too!

I still didn’t want to pay a lot for them, though. So I checked Amazon. lol I found this very cute scarecrow diamond art painting for $3.99! Now that’s more like it! I used this frame from Amazon that is inexpensive as well (It’s out of stock right now.). I actually think it would look better in a frame with a wider edge to it. I’ll keep my eye out for a frugal (aka cheap lol) one.

Diamond Art

I was searching for framing how to’s, and ended up on YouTube. Some people cut the pictures right to the edge of the diamonds. I opted to follow the folding directions, instead of cutting. So framing was very easy, fold, tape, insert into frame.

I am now working on this Pumpkin Welcome diamond art painting. I’m loving this one, too! It is $6.99, still in the price range I’m willing to pay.

Then I will be finished with fall themed ones. lol I’ll have to find some Christmas ones I like now!

Check out some of my other hobby’s!

Birthright Outlaw Movie Review

October 12, 2023 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I was recently able to watch the new movie Birthright Outlaw from Great American Pure Flix. I loved it! An awesome movie that is very different from their usual movies. The Birthright Outlaw genres are drama, faith, and western. Check out my review below, and enter to win a 3 month subscription to Great American Pure Flix!

Birthright Outlaw Movie

Birthright Outlaw Cast List:

Lucas Black (Legacy Peak, “NCIS: New Orleans”),
Sarah Drew (Mom’s Night Out, Indivisible, Grey’s Anatomy),
Jeff Fahey,
Olivia Sanabia,
Aaron Burns Director

Birthright Outlaw is set in Arizona in 1890. Last Chance, Arizona is as far off the beaten path as you can go. For some folks, this out-of-the-way frontier town is just what they’re looking for. While Pastor Jeremiah Jacobs wonders if Hope, his teenage daughter, might need better opportunities found elsewhere, his wife Martha believes Last Chance is the best place for her family.

So, with the help of the townspeople, including Sheriff William Bridges and his wife Bonnie, Jeremiah is ready to put down permanent roots and begin building a sanctuary for their small-town church. That all changes late one night when the dreaded House Gang rides into town and kidnaps Hope.

Will They Find Hope?

The outlaws have targeted the family—looking to shine a light on Martha’s dark, hidden past. With Hope gone and her parents ready to go rescue her, the sheriff comes alongside and …arrests Martha, a long-time fugitive.

Having seemingly nowhere to turn, Pastor Jeremiah’s desperation gets the best of him and with the help of the sheriff’s wife, he breaks Martha out of jail. As they begin a desperate journey to find Hope, the couple must face long-buried truths, double-crossed bounty hunters, and the most-dreaded outlaw gang in the Wild West—run by Martha’s father, “The King of Hearts.”

After half-a-lifetime of running and living a lie, Martha must decide which family she’ll fight for—and what she truly believes. A movie for the whole family, Birthright Outlaw is an old-fashioned Western with a twist of fate—and faith.

Though Birthright Outlaw is intended for the whole family, this movie has some very intense moments, including kidnapping and gunfire. I suggest watching it first if you know that your kids and young teens might be sensitive to these things.

I really enjoyed watching Birthright Outlaw. A captivating story line with beautiful scenery. I think this movie is very well done. Check out this video.

Inside the Making of Birthright Outlaw

Watch Birthright Outlaw exclusively on Great American Pure Flix starting October 13th!

Here are some Bible verses that are related to the storyline of Birthright Outlaw. Scroll down for the giveaway.

● The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
● Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. – Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
● Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here. – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
● There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. – Luke 12:2 (NIV)

Also, these verses.

● This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished — he did it to
demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. – Romans 3:22-26 (NIV)

The Blind Movie Review

September 27, 2023 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

We used to enjoy watching Duck Dynasty as a family. So when I heard that they were making a movie about their family’s lives, I really looked forward to watching it. And doing a The Blind movie review!

The Blind The True Story of the Robertson Family did not disappoint.

Long before Phil Robertson was a reality TV star, he fell in love, started a family, and began to spiral out of control. The Blind shares never before revealed moments in Phil’s life as he seeks to conquer the shame of his past, ultimately finding redemption in an unlikely place.

The Blind

The Blind is rated PG-13, which I highly recommend adhering to. There are some dark moments, as there have been in many of our lives. If you have a sensitive teen, I suggest watching it first to see if you think it’s appropriate for your teenager to watch.

Watch the trailer

The Blind Movie Review

The Blind starts with Phil as a boy with his family and the hard times they went through. As a teenager, Phil played on the high school football team, and met Kay, a cheerleader. Phil went off to college to play football, while Kay stayed home to finish high school while pregnant. They married, and Phil graduated from college, though he gave up playing football.

Things got worse for Kay and Phil once they were married. Alcohol addiction, domestic violence, money trouble, all culminated in Phil kicking Kay and the kids out.

Kay came to know Christ, and worked on making a new life for the kids, never giving up wanting her family united and whole. Phil reached rock bottom, and found his way to Christ. Through their faith, they were able to restore their marriage and their family.

While the movie does hit on how Phil started making duck calls, that business is not the main focus of The Blind. The main focus is Phil and Kay. Who they are, what they were, and what they have become. And what their family was, and now is. Even though there are dark moments, we need to see them so we can truly understand how their lives changed when they came to know Christ.

The Blind is a powerful true story that showcases God’s redemptive power to change our lives when we surrender to Him!

See The Blind only in theaters starting September 28! I look forward to watching it with my family!

An End For A New Beginning

May 24, 2023 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I have made the decision to close Linda’s Lunacy.

I started this blog when I was homeschooling my kids. They are all now grown.

There is a LOT that goes into a blog behind the scenes.

And my life is taking me in a different direction.

I want to put my time into my new ventures.

I’m looking forward, not back.

I have already handed off my Facebook page to someone else. Your decision if you want to unfollow. Just be aware that it is no longer me.

I am keeping my Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube accounts.

If you don’t follow me on any of those, please check them out.

I would love for you to stop by and see what I’m up to!

I will now be concentrating on my new companies!

A clothing company, a health and wellness business, and I am now a Travel Advisor!

So I have lots going on still!

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for visiting Linda’s Lunacy.

For following me, linking up, and just for being here!

God bless you all!
