The World’s Easiest Candy

October 5, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

This World’s Easiest Candy is so good! And it really is the easiest candy to make!

Kids, and adults, alike love this candy! It will be a hit whether you’re taking it to someone, or making it for your family.

The World’s Easiest Candy

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 sleeve saltine crackers
1 12 oz package chocolate chips

Spray a cookie sheet with oil, or line pan with foil. I really have never had trouble removing this from the cookie sheet, though. Here’s the kind I use…..

Line cookie sheet with a single layer of saltine crackers. If you don’t use the whole sleeve, that’s ok. I have one cookie sheet that is a little bigger, and I use a few more crackers from another sleeve, breaking them in half as needed to fill the pan.

Bring butter and brown sugar to boil and boil for 5 minutes. Evenly poor this mixture over the crackers. It doesn’t have to be perfect, as it will spread in the oven.

Bake for 5-10 minutes at 350*. You’ll want to watch, so it doesn’t burn. Remove from oven when the mixture is nice and bubbling.

As soon as you remove it from the oven, evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Wait a minute for the chocolate to melt, then spread with a knife or spatula. Be careful to not move the crackers too much.

At this point, you could sprinkle on nuts, mini chocolate chips, candy pieces, sprinkles really anything you want. It is very good plain, so you don’t have to do this. It does make the candy look pretty for holidays, and gift giving, though.

Cool candy completely before cutting. To speed up the cooling, you can put it in the fridge for a few minutes. I usually do. 🙂

My family loves this candy. And it quickly disappears at any gathering I take it to.

You can also use different kinds of crackers. I’ve seen this candy made with club crackers and even cheese crackers. You can also use different kinds of chocolate chips, and as I said above, different toppings.

Since it takes just a few minutes to make, it’s the perfect last minute desert for any dinner or gathering.

This Weeks Blog Hops

October 5, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

These are the blog hops I’m participating in this week. Blog hops, as well as Twitter & Facebook hops are a lot of fun, and a great way to find new blogs. It’s also a great way to increase your followers on your blog.

*This week, instead of having a blog hop post every day, I’m going to try one post for the whole week. This is kind of a long post, but I think it will help me keep up with the comments. So I’m going to try it for a week or two. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll go back to daily postings. What do you think? Do you like daily posts or weekly posts better?

If your visiting Linda’s Lunacy for the first time, Welcome. I hope you can stay and visit for awhile!

Bible in 90 Days – Final Check-in

October 5, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I did it! I finished the Bible in 90 Days Challenge! I finished last Friday, October 1, on day 89!

I did get behind, and have to read 2 and 3 sections a day to finish on time.

I am so glad I found the Bible in 90 Days Challenge. It is just that, a challenge. It’s very challenging to read that much of the Bible every day.

But it is so incredibly worth it!

You really do see the overall theme of the chapters when you read it all at once. When you reading a chapter or two a day, your down in it. When your reading 12 pages a day, your up above, looking down, and you see things that you don’t see when your down in each chapter individually.

When I read the Bible, I like to read all the notes, too. So while reading for this challenge, I had a hard time skipping the notes. lol

And I never did get my family trained to not interrupt while I was reading. I started reading with a post it not in my hand, so when I was interrupted, I could put the post it where I was. I could then come back to the exact spot with out having to spend 10 minutes trying to find where I left off. Once I started doing that, it relieved a lot of the frustration I felt from being constantly interrupted.

Not to say that my family shouldn’t have learned to not interrupt when I was reading the Bible. My kids aren’t little anymore. The youngest is 10, so they could gone longer than two minutes with out talking to me. Especially the adults. Anyway, the post it note was a major discovery for me. lol

I highly recommend the Bible in 90 Days Challenge. They are starting the next Challenge in January. My 14 year old daughter had wanted to do this last challenge, but because of camp, couldn’t participate. I think she will do it next time. I would also like to get my 15, soon to be 16, year old son to do it. They are required to read their Bibles for 30 minutes every day for school anyway, so this would easily fit into their schedule.

I might do it again then, too! For now I’m going to go back and finish a study on Ruth that I stopped to do this challenge. We’re also starting a womens Bible study at church again soon. I’m hoping that I’m able to attend, as I really like those.

And now that I have completed the challenge, I get to order the bracelet I have been wanting! That is my reward for completing the challenge. But really, just reading the God’s word is reward enough!

Homeschool Week in Review – Week 9

October 3, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Another busy homeschool week! We didn’t have any major projects this week, but we still kept busy.

Two kids in high school really keep me on my toes. Once pushes them self too hard, and one doesn’t push hard enough. This is actually the 2nd time that I have had 2 kids in high school. And like having 2 kids in diapers THREE times, in a few years, I will have 2 kids in high school for the third time. Maybe by then I’ll have it all together.

Until then, I’ll just keep plugging along. I love using Homeschool Tracker to print out assignment sheets for the student that doesn’t push hard enough. The student can’t say they didn’t know about an assignment, or they didn’t know what to do. And since it’s printed out, and not hand written, there’s no way students can change the assignment. Not that any of my students would ever do anything like that. They might think it, though! lol

This week my son was playing with Lego’s and decided to make a Wii remote. He did a pretty good job.

He even put a wire on it.

It got me thinking about all the ways that Lego’s can be used in education. We used to use them all the time as math manipulative’s. Setting up historical villages with Lego’s is also fun. Here’s a link to Lego Education, where  you can find all kinds of activities to do with students.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
