Our Homeschool Week in Review
This weeks big news is the the weather got up into the upper 30’s a couple of days this week. That means that Abby & Zach were able to get outside for a couple of walks. PE!
Abby finished her history book this week. She was in Bob Jones University (Affiliate Link) American Republic. Needless to say, she is very happy to be finished with another book.
Crocheted Baby Boy Afghan Set
I’ve been crocheting more items for my Grandmothers Hope Chest. That’s where I keep the things I’ve been making for my future grandchildren. I’ve got a few blankets and sweaters and booties in there so far. I can’t wait to be a grandma. 🙂
Ozeri Digital Pedometer Review
I recently received an Ozeri Digital Pedometer to review. I’ve used a few pedometers over the years. I do like to keep track of how many steps I take, and the progress I have made. The pedometers I have used in the past were not digital. If you’ve ever used a pedometer you know the ones I’m talking about. They make a clicking sound when you walk. I was always a little self concous about wearing those pedometers in public. Everybody didn’t need to hear me clicking when I walked.
That’s the first thing I noticed about this Ozeri Digital Pedometer. It’s silent! I know what some of you are thinking. “But it’s digital. It’s going to be hard to set up.” I found it very easy to set up and start using. Here are a few features of the Ozeri 4x3runnerTM Digital Pocket 3D Pedometer with Tri-Axis Technology. That’s it’s official long name.
In the Kitchen with Linda & Dinner Menu
When I made chili this week, I cooked extra hamburger to freeze. I put 2 four cup bags and 1 two cup bag in the freezer. Two cups of cooked hamburger is approximately 1 pound. Knowing that makes it easier to cook a large batch of hamburger, then measure out to freeze. This is one of my convenience foods that I like to keep on hand. It makes for quick meals.
Hannah made homemade Oreo cookies for the first time. And took this picture. They came out great. The cookie isn’t as crisp as a store bought one, but not as soft as a whoopie pie. Her siblings (and parents lol) were very happy with her cookie efforts.
On Sunday, we make breakfast for lunch. Church was cancelled because of the weather, so we had time to make it. Hannah made the biscuits, my husband made the potatoes and the eggs. I made the turkey sausage, then turned it into gravy. The turkey sausage recipe is linked below, and it’s super easy. And very tasty. When I cooked the sausage, I cooked three pounds, then divided it. 1/3 went into the gravy, and the other thirds were bagged separately for the freezer for pizza toppings.
Now…. to answer the question that I get asked about a hundred times a day……….What’s For Dinner? See my menu below! [Read more…]
Saturday on the Farm – Snow Day
We have had so much snow in Kentucky this year! We still had snow on the ground from Monday, when we got more snow overnight and this morning.
My husband braved the cold to take a couple of pictures. This is looking down our road this morning while it was still snowing. Our driveway is just out of the bottom right corner of the picture.
Our Homeschool Week in Review
It’s been so cold here! Even though the temp inside is staying steady, the temp outside keeps dropping. And that makes us all want to wrap up in blankets and just sit around. Either on the computer or watching movies.
Abby & Zach sure don’t want to get out of bed in the mornings, either. lol Can’t say as I blame them. We do need to get some schoolwork done, though. Instead of them getting most of their work done in the morning, they are now doing most of it in the afternoon. Even though it’s not my preferred schedule, they are getting work done. That’s all that really matters.
