It’s been a busy week in my kitchen. I decided to make myself some gluten free snacks. I made Gluten Free Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies and Gluten Free Applesauce Gingerbread. By the way, I’ve linked all my gluten free recipes on one page. You’ll find it in the menu bar above. I took pictures, but now can’t find them. I think they are on my husbands cell phone. The applesauce gingerbread is great alone, but awesome paired with homemade whipped cream.

Hannah made homemade hamburger buns for our cheeseburgers the other night. They came out great, with minimal complaining from the family about them not being store bought. She wants to make all our hamburger buns now. That works for me, even if I don’t get to eat them. Abby made chocolate chip cookies this week. None of the kids complain about getting to eat cookies. lol
The forecast for a big winter storm got me thinking about how I was going to feed the family if we lost electric. So Monday’s turkey got cooked on Sunday night. I also made 3 loaves of bread in the bread machine. I was going to be prepared if the electric did go out. lol
I’m switching up Wednesday & Thursday’s beef & chicken (turkey) this week to better fit the families schedule. We have an orthodontist appointment on Thursday, that’s why mashed potatoes is on the menu so much this week. I’ll make extra on Wednesday so she’ll have plenty to eat on Thursday. 🙂

It’s been a busy week in my kitchen. In addition to Christmas meals, I also was busy adjusting the menu to meet the nutritional needs of a family member put on a special diet. I don’t have to do too much differently, I just have to make sure that he gets no starches at all. Since my husband is a diabetic, I already am careful about serving starches, so not too much to adjust too.
Christmas morning, I served our traditional homemade cinnamon rolls and egg nog. My kids weren’t crazy about the homemade egg nog, that I served for the first night of Advent, so we had store bought this time. For the cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning, I make them the night before. I place them in the fridge overnight for the second rise. I take them out in the morning, let them sit for about 30 minutes. Then pre-heat the oven, and bake for the usual time. They always come out great. And so much easier than getting up early to make them!

I love making a big pot of soup and having it to eat for a couple of days in a row. That may sound boring, but nothing warms you up on a cold day like soup. Plus, it’s easy. lol I made a big pot of beef vegetable soup on Saturday. We had it for supper that night, for lunch and supper on Sunday, two of us had the rest of it for lunch today.

The biggest thing that happened in my kitchen this week was Thanksgiving. Thanks to my 17, almost 18, year old daughter that did all the baking.
I saw a picture of an apple pie on Facebook, so I sent her the picture. She made her own version and here it is.

I had to make homemade turkey sausage for our pizza the other day, so I made extra. I used two 20 ounce packages of ground turkey. I made patties with one package and put them all in the freezer for future meals. With the second package, I made crumbled sausage for pizza.

I have no pictures to share this week. I didn’t do anything special in the kitchen this week. Basically, just tried to keep my head above water with meals and dishes.
I put Jag on the menu this week. I haven’t made it in a long time, but it is a family favorite. I linked the recipe below. There is no picture on the recipe post, so I’ll make sure to take one this week. So I’ll definitely have a picture to share next week.
