What’s For Dinner?

November 26, 2012 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Well, I survived another Thanksgiving dinner! lol We had 13 for dinner, including us. Eight at the adult table and five at the kids table. The 18 year old was outraged that he still had to sit at the kids table. roflol I could only fit eight around the adult table. I guess next year, we’ll have to have two adult tables, or start serving dinner buffet style. lol

The Menu:

Saturday – Sabbath- Make ahead meals- Thanksgiving leftovers

Sunday – soup & sandwich day – Homemade Vegetable Soup with Grilled cheese sandwiches on homemade sour dough bread

Monday – chicken – Spaghetti with meat sauce, peas, celery sticks

Tuesday – pizza/pasta – Chicken a la mama over mashed potatoes

Wednesday – super simple – leftovers or eggs & toast

Thursday – beef – Chili Cheese baked potatoes

Friday – Sabbath Dinner – Homemade Turkey Soup with homemade sourdough bread

What’s For Dinner?

The other day, I tried making Tater Tot Casserole without the store  bought tater tots. I used baked potatoes diced to about the same size or a little smaller as the tater tots. It came out great.

I cancelled pizza night this week because of Thanksgiving. We make practically everything from scratch, so it’s a very labor intensive meal. Since pizza is also a labor intensive meal, I cancelled it. If anyone complains, I’ll tell them we can cancel the big Thanksgiving meal instead.   😉

Can I say that I’m tired from just typing out the Thanksgiving menu! lol

The Menu:

Saturday – Sabbath- Make ahead meals- Homemade Salisbury Steak, baked potatoes, green beans

Sunday – soup & sandwich day – Dinner at church, leftovers

Monday – chicken – Spaghetti with meat sauce, peas, carrot sticks

Tuesday – pizza/pasta – Meatloaf, baked potatoes, corn on the cob

Wednesday – super simple – leftovers or eggs & toast

Thursday – beef – Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, homemade dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, Creamed Onions, pumpkin pie, apple pie, chocolate pie, homemade whipped cream

Friday – Sabbath Dinner – Thanksgiving leftovers

It was so nice out this past Saturday, that we decided to have a cookout. By the time the grocery shoppers got home, the sun and gone down and it got cold. So we cooked the hot dogs in a grill pan inside. lol On Sunday afternoon, we had a fire in the fire pit and made the S’mores. The kids were happy, as long as they got a fire and s’mores. lol

On Friday, I’m going to try making Tater Tot Casserole with diced baked potatoes instead of store bought tater tots. We’ll see how it goes over with the family!

Monday – chicken – Baked Chicken, baked potatoes, Pepper Jelly Glazed Carrots, peas

Tuesday – pizza/pasta – Homemade  pizza using our homemade pizza crust, with pepperoni, chicken, onions & peppers with carrot sticks

Wednesday – super simple – Taco Rice, zucchini

My son had his 18th birthday party on Saturday, including serving the guests dinner. So he picked dinner that night. Today, I’m cooking the first turkey of the fall season. My husband found a good deal on turkey while he was shopping, so that’s what we’re having.  🙂 Turkey is only on the menu once. The rest of the turkey will be going in the freezer. Well, after we eat a few sandwiches.  🙂

The Menu:

Saturday – Sabbath- Make ahead meals- Hot dogs, potato salad, chips, birthday cake

Sunday – soup & sandwich day – Homemade chicken soup and homemade sour dough biscuits

Monday – chicken – Roast Turkey, yellow squash and zucchini casserole, homemade sour dough biscuits

Tuesday – pizza/pasta – Homemade  sausage pizza using our homemade pizza crust, with onions and peppers

Wednesday – super simple – Beans and rice in the crockpot

Thursday – beef – Meatloaf, corn on the cob, peas

Friday – Sabbath Dinner – Leftovers or dinner out

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
