What’s For Dinner?

I’m thinking of doing away with leftover night. We never seem to have enough leftovers to make up a whole meal! I’m think of making Wednesdays Super Simple Kids Cook Night. Sounds good to me. lol So I’m trying to think of a list of things for them to make.

Usually when I put my kids in charge of cooking they want to make all their favorite elaborate meals. Maybe I’ll just make it soup and sandwich night. Of course, that means I have to have the homemade soup ready in the freezer. Would be worth it for a night off, though!  Or crockpot meals only on Wednesday. hmmmmmm…….

Any ideas?

Wednesday – super simple – left overs

Friday – Sabbath Dinner –  Roast turkey, potatoes, corn

It’s eat from the freezer week here!

All the turkey meals and the meatloaf are from the freezer. The homemade chili is the only thing I’m making this week. (I’m making extra for the freezer, of course!) That and the rice for Monday. Well, I’m making the turkey soup, but the broth, turkey and veggies are all in the freezer. So I just have to assemble it. lol  The potatoes, green beans and corn are all home canned, so no prep work. I really love having all these home canned veggies. It really is worth all the labor during the summer.

I love easy weeks in the kitchen.  🙂

Saturday – Sabbath- Make ahead meals- Breakfast for dinner, Husband cooked!

Sunday – soup & sandwich day – Turkey Soup

Monday – chicken – Turkey a la Mama over rice

Tuesday – pizza/pasta – Homemade Chili, maybe some homemade cornbread??

Wednesday – super simple – left overs

Thursday – beef –  Meatloaf, potatoes, green beans

Friday – Sabbath Dinner –  Roast turkey, potatoes, corn

The Taco Soup I made yesterday was great. I’ll made it a time or two more before I share my recipe. Just to make sure it’s right.

Turkey a la Mama is on the menu this week. Never heard of it? Well, it’s based on Chicken a la King. Except with Mama’s twists. 🙂 Basically, it’s turkey (or chicken) in gravy with whatever vegetables I have on hand. It’s good served over rice, potatoes, biscuits, just about everything. The family loves it. And because it’s homemade gravy with more vegetables than meat, it’s not as bad for you as it sounds. Served over brown rice, it’s actually pretty healthy.

Saturday – Sabbath- Make ahead meals- Help yourself to leftovers night  🙂

Sunday – soup & sandwich day – Turkey tacos for lunch, Homemade potato soup using my home canned potatoes for supper

Monday – chicken – Turkey a la Mama on brown rice

Tuesday – pizza/pasta – Elbows & sauce, green beans

Wednesday – super simple – left overs or eggs and fried potatoes if no leftovers

Thursday – beef –  Chili Beef & Cabbage, corn

Friday – Sabbath Dinner –  Turkey soup, homemade corn bread

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
